I recommend that you use an ATM card primarily. ATM cards generally
give very good exchange rates, with low or minimal commissions. If
your card is from a minor US bank, make sure it is part of a larger
ATM network.

Credit cards are not as widely accepted in Europe as in the US, except
in moderate-to-expensive hotels and restaurants. Cash is generally a
better idea.

Currency exchange windows (which have electronic boards showing
currencies and prices) usually give terrible exchange rates and have
high commissions, so avoid them except as a last resort.
