Your plan mostly sounds about right. I assume those numbers don't
include travel days. How do you plan to get around? I assume you
will mostly take trains but fly one-way to and from Berlin?
No, I intend do it all by train. Do you think it's not a good idea?
I think trains are a great way to see Europe. You get to see the
scenery instead of just flying between city centers and not seeing
anything in between, and it's a lot more pleasant than being on a
plane and being in airports. It's certainly possible to do your
itinerary all by train, but you will either need to take some
additional stops, since Berlin and Portugal are far out of the way of
the other places you're visiting, or prepare for some very long train
trips. Florence to Berlin for example is a 16 hour trip involving
changing trains twice. Lisbon or Porto to Barcelona would be similar.
Can you get an "open-jaw" plane ticket where you fly into one city and
out of another? Flying in to Lisbon and out of London, for example,
would save you a lot of time.
