I can get my transactions in the US account about 2 days after in have
made an ATM withdrawal in France.
My last withdrawal was on the 26th of this month and the exchange
rate was exactly 1.312. The International Herald Tribune had
a rate of 1.318 on its front page on the 27th reporting the
previous days 4PM NY exchange rate.
Google gives the rates chartwise and for 26th
the rates fluctuated during the day between
1.318 and 1.316. So for some reason I got
a slightly better exchange rate than
that shown, $4-$6 dollars on a 1000 euro transfer.
However, the 1% transaction fee is more than
that savings. 1% still is not bad considering
the convenience of the ATM use. They do provide
a service and that has to be paid for.

So, Capital One credit cards which has no foreign transaction fee will be
great for you. Why haven't you sign up for that. This credit card has been
running a lot of TV promotion in the US. Capital One 24 hours customer
service phone number is 1-800-867-0904. If you are overseas, you can call
collect at 804-934-2001. Now, I am convince traveling anywhere outside the
US, Capital One is the only card to use.
Can any Capital One user post their foreign transaction exchange rate
experience here for us to share?
Thank you.
