Never been to Japan (nor to any Arab country, or Israel, or Armenia,
Georgia, India, Thailand) ...
.... but I do not think anybody used to the latin alphabet should find
great difficulty with writings in the cyrillic alphabet or in the greek
alphabet. They are quite alike ours.
Also in Russia current and next station (and connections) are announced
via loudspeaker.
It seems to me more difficult to memorize signs in other writings
mentioned above.
