Ken, this is fascinating. I'm also a docent at museum, but my experience makes me more inclined to seek out docent-led tours in other museums. At the least, I'm confident that the docent won't be telling me what to think; I can filter what I'm hearing through my own knowledge and experience. In addition, I know how much I learn from our twice-a-month training and I assume docents at other museums are going through an equivalent training process.
