If they're big enough, they might not even notice. Remember, there are
no doubt other providers there you can use. In large UK cities now, I'm
finding that wifi coverage is getting close to total in some areas, even
on the street, and often with more than one provider! If you persist
with the laptop, I'm sure you'll find that you can use it.

I'm not as optimistic as you are. But then I'm still trying to find a
way to discard the slow dialup connection.
