One scam I encountered- a UK bloke (or one with a convincing English
accent) approached me outside Barcelona airport with a sob story about
needing exactly 37 euro to get back to the UK. I was a bit rude to him.
There used to be (haven't seen him for a while now) an American, or
someone who did a very good impression of one, on the Manchester trams
claiming that he needed x amount to get back to Chicago. I saw a woman
giving him money once, so I told her he'd told the same story a month
before, which was true. She ran after him and got the money back- he
looked pretty pissed off!
