I have sometimes had the impression that people purposefully mislead
others in modifying a previous message. It was not my intent in this
case.
It was news to me (in Europe) that the US was having mild winter.
We have been getting most of the weather news from the East with
Siberian weather having descended on Moscow and pushing on
in Eastern Europe. The worry in west Europe is that we would
get a good dose of Siberian cold too. We have not sufferred very much.
I have seen colder weather in Paris, we have not had snow on the
ground in the city for a very long time.
Also, the north of France, most of France has been sufferring
from low rain fall and there is a lot of worry about water
supplies in the next year. The only region to be getting
high fall is around the Bouche du Rhone, with floods
The weather patterns in France have changed over the last
10 or so year and will necessitate some changes in the
types of crops grown.
Similarly the mid-west of the USA is having a long term drought and
has had one for several years. Lastly, it is noted that
there have been predictions that this would occur due to
global warming, weather patterns shifting to produce lower
rain fall in some areas, higher in others. In the US
this is a politically sensitive subject but in Europe
people seem willing to listen and some agricultural policies
are being implemented to adjust to predicted changes. Not just
propagandize against them.
