I stayed there 10 years ago and it was fine. I had a private room I had
lived in the country already for a year, so I was expecting a lot
worse. It had Western toilets with seats which is not always available
*especially* in public toilets. 15 minutes is not that bad of a walk.
You will be doing alot of walking anyway.

Advice: Russians are very friendly people. You just can't tell by their
demeanor. Don't be afraid to talk to people on the street.
