Ukrainian isn't very popular but exisist! For example people who live
in Lwow speak in Ukrainian. In west people speak rather Polish but in
east - they speak in Russian (sorry that incovinience!). So near the
middle people speak in Ukrainian. Besides, Ukrainians don't like
Russians so why would they like speak their language?

P.S. And Russian don't shity. Russian is use by many people in East
(they were USRR for example). For example learned the language and
they're Polish. Long ago eastern block learned Russian. It was basis of
education as nowadays is English. You'll think about it.
