Let me address this through you, for you do seem to be one of the more level-headed participants on this newsgroup. Likewise, I think you will know exactly what I am talking about, as well as to whom it really addresses. Is this just stirring the pot once again? I don't really think so. Yet, at times certain things must be addressed to hopefully keep a level playing field.

What will be their reaction to this message? No-doubt more insults and name calling, but then again, some people just can't get over themselves. On the other hand, let's try to get back to the joys of cruising itself and agree or disagree on a subject at hand without all this excess baggage. Therefore, why should those with the biggest chip on their shoulder even be allowed to take over this newsgroup with nothing more than useless insults and name calling, and very little else.Hi John,
John Sisker
I wish I had some magic words to say to bring peace to the family. I'll just say what's on my mind. You post a lot, as do others. I read the posts that are of interest and not the others. I'm sure many other people do the same. However, there's no question some people attack you rather than to ignore. There are times when your info can be clarified or corrected and some posters do that. Other posters invent a complaint or maximize a little point to criticize you. They obviously enjoy tormenting you which just exacerbates the problem.
Whether or not you intend it, you seem to be in some sort of contest with Ray and I would encourage you to get away from that appearance, although I'm not sure how. Perhaps some of the items you post just aren't really worth your time.
The people who attack you won't quit as long as you react to them. Why not ignore them and instead, study their comments and see if there's anything to them. Or perhaps you can find ways to get around some of the complaints. This will be difficult, but it might be worth some effort.
I guess two things keep coming to my mind. One would be to encourage those who would attack you to ignore what bothers them. The second would be for you to think through the posts for value, rather than trying to race to be first to post. When you get down to it, nobody cares who was first to post something.
Personally, I'm glad we have several TA's in the group to answer our questions. I wish I had better answers to your questions. Keep cool.

Harry,
First of all, I do want to thank you for your reply to my questions and concerns, you did make a lot of sense. You are indeed correct, some do seem to go out of their way, with tormenting (as you call it), along with their insults and name calling (as I call it), for nothing more than for the sake of doing it. Naturally, it would stand to reason that some would read my posts, some won't, while most are probably selective - reading only what seems of interest to them. Likewise, the very nature of a press release encourages those with clarifications and/or corrections for added value. Other than just personal opinions, or those wanting to disagree just for the sake of it, this is what a newsgroup is suppose to be all about.
I am also well aware that some feel I am just in competition with Ray when it comes to press releases. Even though I have been trying to be more selective in what I circulate, some feel it is perfectly okay for Ray to do it, but classify it as spamming or advertising when I do. Yet, it was long ago when the shills for Ray surfaced with these double-standards. Therefore, if I feel it is of interest or important, I will include it here as a press release, whether Ray or anyone else likes it or not. After all, they can always ignore it - that is indeed their choice, just as it is mine to include it. Likewise, it is surly noted that Ray hasn't been posting much of anything of late, especially press releases. Perhaps he is on vacation himself. Yet, that hasn't seem to stop him for constantly sending me a private e-mails claiming that almost every press release I post, he claims was already posted. While one or two may slip by now and them, this claim is not only untrue but is totally ridiculous. Press releases from Ray, myself or anyone else, are not exclusive, and as you said, who cares who posted it first.
As for ignoring the negative comments by a few that no-doubt just want to get their name mentioned, for the most part I have been doing just this. Yet, there is the occasion, when even I feel it is time and necessary to at least try to keep the record straight. This is not so-much to address their innuendos and speculations, we all know there is little point in doing that anyway, but to try and put things back in proper perspective for those worthy of it.
John
