Actually, I cruised in May, last week. But, the old "june gloom" really does show up in May. "May gloom" just doesn't sound right :-)
I live in Utah now, so the chilly weather didn't bother me at all. I mean, I had 3 inches of new snow on my porch 2 days before I left for the trip! It's kind of like when I go to Arizona in the winter - I'm out there in a long sleeve Tshirt and jeans, sitting on my porch and the guys going by on the golf course have on jackets, and wool hats.
