Re: Hi everyone! Long time...no SEA! :-)

Hi Tom,

Nope, he hasn't convinced me yet. But then I think he may have finally
given up. He knows what I want! My problem is being limited on BUDGET
and time of year I can sail. Last year sailing out of San Francisco on
the Golden for 10 days was perfect for one of my grown daughters and
me...but the rest of the family either had school or work. And, I paid
for Kelly. Can't always afford to do that, and I sure know her budget
won't allow it. :( So...that leaves me without a lot of options. I
just try to find something like sailing under Golden Gate Bridge or
trying the Mariner of the Seas and figure I'm doing okay! A heck of a
lot better than staying home.

That's interesting that you like the Voyager class ships even more
than the Radiance class. I would have thought you enjoyed looking out
at the sea more. But, until I actually experience one of these
"floating malls", I really can't say too much against it. It's
definitely been on top of my list to try and I had to jump at the
chance when I heard it was coming out to the Left coast.

Too bad about the food, though. What a shame that RCI can't put more
into it. I sure hope it's better than the NCL Star. How would you say
it compares to the NCL Dawn you sailed? I could not STAND their Market
Pantry buffet (or whatever it was called.) BAD!!! The dining room
cuisine wasn't anything to write home about, either. I much prefer
Princess and Carnival's food. So, PLEASE tell me RCI puts out better
stuff!

Thanks for the ice show tip. Tell me, I heard that RCI does well with
their large production shows, but is lacking in other entertainment
such as comedians, magicians, etc. Is this true? I hope not! While ice
skating is nice, I'm not sure I want to see that every night. I love
going and watching a comedian or good magician put on a show. Or other
alternative entertainment aside from the BIG shows.

I will DEFINITELY do Johnny Rockets. Already had that on my agenda. :)

Well, well, Cunard! And a transatlantic crossing to boot! Aren't WE
special! LOL Hey, it sounds wonderful. Remember now, you'll be on a
Carnival-owned ship! :-)

Hey Lindsay, welcome back home. Hope everyone in your family is well.

FWIW... I don't really like the Radiance class, but I LOVE the Voyager

those ships.

RCI food is... well... if you understand that it's not going to be Celebrity
or Princess food, then you stick with what they do well. They do well with
the beef tenderloin, but not the fish. If I'm on Celebrity or Cunard... I
go for the fish. On RCI stick with steaks, chicken, turkey, prime rib, etc.
And definitely do Johnny Rockets one day for lunch. They have the best
dessert on the ship, their own hot apple pie with ice cream.

Our TA friend convince you to try Celebrity yet? I even tried Cunard. The
Queen Mary 2. Did a mini 4 night sailing out of NYC to Princess Cay on the
QM2.. Loved it so much I booked a transatlantic crossing on it. This June,
sailing from Southampton England back to New York.

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I always used to post on rtc when
it was on another format. Then I never found a user-friendly forum
after that. So, here I am on Googlegroups. Jean knows who I am because
we write back and forth all the time. Lots of jokes, too! Welcome back
Jean and Ed!

Anyway, I'm Lindsay from California. I'll be sailing on my 10th cruise
in April 2009. I know--that's a drop in the bucket compared to many of
your cruises! :) My daughter, who will be 16 by then, and I are
sailing on the Mariner of the Seas down to Mexico. Can't believe she's
coming out West! Finally we can try one of those humongous ships!
Also, it will be a first time on RCI for us.

I've heard from CruiseCritic that the food isn't as good on RCI as it
is on Princess and Carnival. Other little quirks, too. We're going to
stay in a Promenade cabin overlooking the "mall". :) I can't say I'm
100% thrilled with all the inside activity...I like to have windows
and doors looking out at the sea. But, on the other hand, I really
want to give this ship a try just to say I finally sailed that
class...and RCI .Something tells me that the Radiance class would be
more to my liking. Lots of windows. Maybe another time.

What I REALLY wish I was doing is sailing to Hawaii roundtrip on the
Golden Princess out of LA for 14 days! All that sea time is right up
my alley. Last year at this time another daughter and I sailed from
San Francisco for 10 days down to Mexico on the Golden and we loved
the sea days. But until Princess or anyone decides to do RT summer
sailings to Hawaii, I won't be doing that itinerary anytime soon. :(

Okay, that's about it for me right now. I just looked at the clock and
it's past midnight. I just wanted to say I FOUND all of you again! I
recognize a lot of names here! Hey, Tom K. how the heck are ya? I'm
still utilizing our favorite TAs' services, by the way. Always takes
care of me! :)

Talk to you soon,
