Re: When on a cruise: Ensenada, (Baja) Mexico - long

Barry,

Good tips. I thank you for the constructive criticism. In reality, my
response was in reference to George Leppla's thread to me; sorry if I
somehow lost the relationship. Ironically, it has been obvious for a few
years now that a small percentage on this newsgroup think that this is
their own private chat room/message board, and by personally invitation
only. So, I will be extra careful not to fall into that mindset.

Therefore, as will be noted, I will need to cite at least a bit of the
original message, so my comments just don't hang out in the air, connected
to nothing, as you say. In this particular case, it was related to, and
in connection with, Leppla's repeated failure to answer questions based on
his own past behavior and also how the free benefits of his so-called
groups are actually distributed.

John:

To further point out that Top Posting as you have done is a big no no on the usenet. I draw your attention to http://www.caliburn.nl/topposting.html and
http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc1855.html

The second link says this:

If you are sending a reply to a message or a posting be sure you
summarize the original at the top of the message, or include just
enough text of the original to give a context.

Notice the part of the "original at the top".

I would also like to know what your post above has to do with Ensenada? Posting this now makes your post off topic to the original post?
That is also included in the faqs.org link I have posted above.

I am just trying to get you to understand where things are coming from and why. Not everything that one needs to know is included in a Charter for a newsgroup.
