I am traveling on two Princess cruises in Sept-Oct on the Golden
Princess. I have just been diagnosed with Metastized cancer and an on
chemo. How good are the medical facilities and doctor if I have a
problem? DO they do blood tests, etc?
no email, just post response
We cancelled our spring break cruise after Carol was diagnosed with
stage II breast cancer. It would have been an "off" week for her, but
she slept most of Monday and Tuesday. Also, being immune comprimised,
we just couldn't take the chance.
The medical facilities on any ship are not equipped to handle the
types of emergencies that might arise during chemo. If you crash,
they won't have any of the drugs to assist you. They are not equpped
to do much in the way of blood tests, maybe CBC, but no guarantees for
even that.
I would advise against going. We are planning a cruise some time this
fall, Carol is in her last two weeks of radiation and has the okay
from her doctors. They are the ones who should be helping you make
your decision.
What regimen are you on?
