We have done Alaska B-to-B twice, once on the Coral Princess, Vancouver to
Seward and back, and again on the Coral, Vancouver to Whittier and back. No
better way to relax. To make it even more interesting, we stayed on the ship
for a 3-day to LA while the ship was repositioning to Fort Lauderdale. So I
guess we did a B-to-B-to-B. In my opinion, the round trip cruises out of
Vancouver or Seattle do not see enough of Alaska. They spend a lot of time
getting there and back.
Smooth Sailing,
Don

If the "cruising" is what you really want, I would suggest a back-to-back
cruise on Holland America. We have done a B-to-B Alaska three times (Sun
Princess, Legend of the Seas, and HAL Statendam).
All three of these trips went from Vancouver to Seward and return the next
week. I suggest HAL because they usually do Glacier Bay (an essential for
first time Alaska). They also have wrap-around promenade decks for the
best viewing of the glaciers. Also, HAL usually has a slightly different
itinerary on the return week.
Pictures of our "Legend" cruise are available on my webshots page.

My sister and I are thinking about an Alaskan cruise next summer.
Neither of us has cruised before. We're 55 and 60 and therefore not
looking for "party" ships. I'm looking for opinions about the various
cruise lines/ships and itineraries. We're flexible as far as time,
duration of cruise and whether it's one way or round trip.
I haven't been to Alaska yet, but keep on hearing that HAL is the best
cruise line for Alaska. Princess and Celebity would also be good for you
and your sister. One thing to keep in mind is that a round trip cruise
will mean cheaper airfare. Go to a site like travelocity.com and look at
the different itins to get an idea of what is available on the different
cruise lines.
