Whew, I'm so glad you wrote all of that<G>.
I've been on Pride (MexRiv) and Spirit (Carib), and I'm not a CCL lover.
Haven't been on HAL (yet).
But there are lots of CCL lovers around...

Ike,
I have been on the Carnival Pride ( a sister ship) and enjoyed it very
much and we are in the 70+ age group. The food on the Pride and Conquest
was exceptionally good..The HAL ships that I have been on are the
Statendam, Ryndam and Westerdam. The food was good to very good..Contrary
to the many posts here, we have not found the ships filled with elderly
people on any of our cruises...There was a good passenger mix on all
three...two were to Alaska and the other to the Mediterranean.
I would suggest the Oosterdam if they are booking an inside or oceanview
cabin...the *dam* ships have wonderful wrap around balconies that they can
sit out on and they can walk completely around the ship and get all the
views. If they are late night people, they may not find as much *action*
on the Oosterdam as they would on the Carnival Spirit.. But then you would
know better having just sailed on the Oosterdam...While in Alaska last
year, the Oosterdam passengers that we saw getting off their tenders in
Sitka, were of all ages...We have taken ten Carnival cruises and found the
passenger mix not always the same on each one...especially the ones taken
while school is in session.
They will find the *dam* ships a bit more refined than the Carnival
ones..The Carnival decor is extreme in color and theme.
If they can tolerate that, they should have a great time. The Oosterdam
will be more pleasing in decor and if it is like any of the ones that we
have been on, will have fresh floral arrangements in the public areas...
Two couples are leaving with us for San Diego on the Mexican Riviera
itinerary this April 28th, but we are taking the Celebrity Mercury ..
