Marsha,
I find having a good sense of humor and not expecting everything to be
perfect because NO human being is, helps a lot. I find after raising five
children and trying to make them *perfect,* that the best way is to just set
a good example and let them be their own personalities is a lot more fun and
they turned out much to be proud of and each very interesting to chat with
and be around ...The same way with cruises, ...you start one with a positive
attitude and unless there are major inadequacies that can't be remedied by
going to the proper authorities, don't let the minor ones that nothing can
be done about bother you..If my husband mentions a minor complaint, I always
try to counter it with a positive one and he smile and agrees! At our age,
we are just grateful to be cruising as much as we do and enjoying it more
because we do not* look* for problems...that is what some people do and
spend all their *should be fun time* being miserable and nit picking...Life
is too precious and short to take small things so seriously...Let go of
them!!! Even the big ones..Forget about them..they are the past for heaven's
sake! What good does it do you to relive them over and over...does it make
you feel better? I only brings you and those around you down and is
certainly not worth it!
When I was in a hurry, about five years ago and backed out the garage door
without using the door opener, I was so devastated and couldn't forgive
myself.... Our youngest son said, "Mom, did you get hurt?" no.."Did anyone
else get hurt?" no.
"Did the car even have damage?" no.." They are JUST door panels, they can be
replaced, you can't, so stop beating yourself up over it!" I am glad that
he has such an attitude at his young age! Don't sweat the little things and
enjoy life more..I know cruises may be a lot of bucks, but you have to look
at it this way...if you have piddly things happen, you enjoy the good ones
even more because without them, you would have no comparison to enable you
to really enjoy the good ones..Most of all don't let past bad memories
fester and remain with you for the rest of your life...don't dwell on them
to where you just cannot move on with your life without talking about them
over and over...be more forgiving and tolerant..it sure makes life more
pleasurable for yourself and those around you, too! Each cruise to me is a
new adventure and I want it to be different..that is what makes cruising
fun!
