Tucker, I am going thru the Canal this Dec. on Brilliance of The Seas.
Last time I was in Panama was a couple of years ago on the SPIRIT. When
we got to the terminal we asked a cop if he knew a good tour guy. He
took us to one of his friends. We hired the car and driver for the day
and went snorkelling at LaGousta Beach (about 30 mins from the ship)
then a city tour then the Locks tour. We actually ended up joining the
Carnival Spirit ships tour. It cost us $50 for the day for both of us
and we threw in a $30 tip. We did more and saw more than the ships tour
and it cost us less money. I think the ships tour (city tour and locks
tour) was around $100 per person. So yes you can do it on your own for
alot less money.
