I just recently worked as a screening officer at a small airport in
Canada. We would ban liquids, including bottled water, like every
other airport in Canada. Thing is, we caught an Air Canada employee
sneaking a bottle to one of his friends while he came through the
security checkpoint, a clear violation of Transport Canada's rules.
There's nothing you can do about it though because the airlines run
airport security.

Are you saying the airline employee was passed security and gave a
friend something after the friend had passed? What security threat was
there from this?

No we didn't know that he had the bottle with him. He simply walked
around the sterile area by coming in through the tarmac entrance,
bypassing security. She was an old girlfriend of his, I found out
later.

I assume she drank the bottle of water and no danger was present.

Yeah. But it just looked bad in front of the other passengers.
Transport Canada makes such a big deal about no liquids past the
security checkpoint, and then this happens.
