e-tickets by credit card

I am trying to buy domestic air tickets within the USA with my credit
card and the e-ticket option that I have used in many many countries,
but I notice that many agencies have a list of countries from which
they will accept major credit cards, and New Zealand and Australia are
not on the lists!

Can someone in the travel industry explain this to me please? I have
pre-purchased hotel accommodation and rental cars in the USA using my
Gold Mastercard, but so far no success with air travel.
