Remember that in exchange for dropping hydraulics, Boeing needs much
heavier generators, it needs electric motors all over the place, it will
need compressors to take outside air and pressurise it and heat it to
cabin temperature.

Bleed-air-less design was to make engines more efficient. Question is
whether Boeing had properly estimated the weight of the all-electric
design or not, and whether the extra weight will still be offset by the
increased engine efficiency.

In the end, Boeing will succeed. And the weight will be good enough for
ANA and others. The only question is how close to teh 787 Airbus will be
able to make its 350.
