this will probably be last year for us,we've had 2 accounts since year
one,and after last years screw ups,we only try and get 1 car of each release
this year as the problems continue, you pay to become a RLC member which used
to give you a jump and actually get the car released, now no real
headstart, and if weren't for server failure on camaro i'm sure we wouldn't
have got one on order, much less the extended wait(backordered)then sending
priority car???how can it be a priority since they're only released 1 time
only for 24hours?really burning us out on the whole thing,hw-chaz has even
quit collecting pretty much all together

1. For those that have been with HWC since the beginning, when Amy was
the "voice" of the Club to its members, situations got resolved, not
always to the liking of the member or membership, but it got resolved.
Even HWC Ray would put his 2 cents in and assist Club members with issues.
When Amy left to become a member of the Shelby Cobra Program, HWC took a
HUGE step backwards. HWC Ray stopped responding to members issues, or
would just delete the post altogether (I too have had posted taken off the
boards, but I always keep a backup and repost in another mannner just to
keep them guessing). Also, it seems that a majority of the new
"moderators" are more hostile and bitter than user friendly. That does
nothing to improve the quality of service or the product.
2. The web server had major problems the first year. I remember
refreshing my computer for 3 hours on the first Beach Bomb Too sale just
to get one. The problems seemed to have been resolved since the first
year, up to this year. The VW Bug sale was slow, but it worked. The
Camaro sale was a debacle, as the server crashed. You would have thought
then that Mattel would fix the problem. The Virtual Sale, in which I did
not participate, crashed the server again. What is Mattel doing to
correct the problem now? We will see when the Pit Cruiser goes on sale.
Personally, I think a lot of people are going to stay away, just to spite
Mattel. If that happens, the server might just stay live all day. Again,
we will see.
3. The RLC Rewards Program is a "major" debacle. I didn't recieve a
Firebird with my VW Bug. I BOUGHT it on Ebay, because I want the car. I
understand to some degree to some degree what Mattel is trying to do. The
program, as implied by Mattel, said that memebers may receive duplicate
cars. I think that led most members, including me, to believe there would
be a special program of cars only available to RLC members who purchase
cars within the 24 hour window of opportunity. What was not imlied was
that a "select few" would receive a Limited Edition RLC Rewards Car, and
the rest would receive a Classics repaint. Equality of perceived value is
what everyone is looking for. Will Mattel correct the problem? Probably,
somewhere late in the year, Mattel will do something superficial in their
attempt to appease the Club members.
My opinions, justified by my opinions.

Since Amy left, there has been nothing but problem after problem. In my
opinion, the club is getting run into the ground. Let's all post what
we know, so we can at least learn and understand how a collector's club
should not be run. Here's what I recall:
Censorship/deleting fair and objective opinions on the HWC boards
2005 Master Cube Set: duplicates and missing cars
Ongoing Backorders: Beach Bomb, Camaro
March Madness VVM Sale postponed
RLC Rewards Car Debacle: '68 Firebird vs. Classics VW Bug
I know I'm missing a lot more of the headaches from last year into this
year, so post what you know.
