Turn off the sound. McEnroe is an ***. The rest of the crew
ain't much better. Americans hate it when anybody clips them out of
the record book as Federer did when he snagged his 15th major. They

even get 10 years of blowing their horn.
How about you stop with the generalizations about Americans, drew?
I have to generalize every day and so do you. I believe that sports
fans in general are pretty low-life. Americans are no exception.
They are particularly offensive because they have been so successful
and the arrogance goes with this. They annoy the rest of the world
because there is this
expectation, assumption and then assertion that Americans are the best
at everything, including any sport that matters to......Americans of
course.
I don't think it is unusual for this attitude to be prevalent in the
USA. I would be surprised if it would be any other way.
If you cannot accept my generalization as being correct, please
enlighten me. I apologize to reasonable American sports fans
everywhere. It is just that I haven't met many of that type.
As someone from the USA, I'd argue that using the number of Slams won to
indicate GOAT requires an asterisk regardless of who has it. After all,
one can only guess how many Laver lost due to playing professionally
although Pancho and Laver would have likely fought each other for
supremacy during the 1960's in the Slams if that prohibition had not
existed. Similarly, if the Australian Open hadn't been moved to December
in 1977 to 1985 (if moved back to January in January 1987 so there
wasn't one in 1986), would Borg, McEnroe, etc. have been more interested
in playing it? These are all philosophical questions but should be
considered when someone tries to declare someone the best ever.
