that covers some doozies, over the years.
Taking the court means willingness to play. It *should* mean making no
excuses, as established protocol. But it means absolutely nothing
about the athlete's actual physical condition. Might as well say the
Agassi didn't have back problems when he played through his injuries,
or JJ didn't have a shoulder injury. Or you-know-who didn't suffer
from thalassemia.
We shouldn't view results through the prism of the ailment, but that
doesn't mean we need to remove those braincells that bear the
knowledge.
In your case, they're probably dead to start with, so you don't have a
choice. But the rest of us do.
condition. Fed is still capable of hitting same winners as always with
no grimace on his face or aching spasms. It's complete bull*** to
suggest he's still capable of hitting his best winners, but when he
makes an error it's because of Mono. That makes no fucking sense at all.
A back or physical injury is completely different - you can actually see
they can't move to the ball the same way. Stop making excuses for him
- there needs to be a lot more evidence than a doctor simply saying 'oh
it's kind of mono symptoms so must be it, but a very, very mild case'.
It's some of the biggest horse*** excuses I've ever seen in pro game.
Any real champ would never mention something so mild as an excuse. It's
hard to respect a guy who still plays amazing tennis (just less
frequently) & blames losses on somethinhg so mild there are no symptoms,
treatment plan or modification to normal routine. Look at Henin/Ancic
for real mono repercussions of mono.
particular penal colony.
Mono, as has been pointed out time and again, is different from
patient to patient. It's primary symptom is fatigue, to different
degrees. Is it the case that you disagree with the notion that
*fatigue* can cause a generalized drop in a player's level? And, if
so, how, and why, would mono be any different? And how exactly would
you be able to tell *except* through a drop in the level of play -
which is exactly what we've seen in Federer?
And mono diagnosis is *not* achieved through mere symptom observation..
You test for antibodies, and there is absolutely no doubt about the
results. I know - I've taken the test. Negative, fortunately. So the
doctor who stated outright that Federer *did* have mono was not merely
giving his opinion - he was reporting the result of a perfectly
reliable test.
Or, of course, we could listen to the ravings of a 'Net-bound ninny.
Henin did *not* have mono, by the way. And Ancic did come out and play
a number of tournaments before his relapse. Which, following your
deranged thinking, is definitive evidence that he did *not* have mono..
Whatever.
that the time you put in to composing this post was completely wasted.
You would have achieved more by continually banging your head against
the nearest hard object ...
Meh. I see value in not just allowing the Usual Idiots to run
roughshod over the newsgroup. And I got paid at a handsome rate while
doing it, anyway.
Investing at stock markets?
;-)
Nah, just at work, getting paid more than I deserve, smacking the
Whisp around.
