About Palin's speech..I was waiting. Does this mean she did well for
herself? I have a feeling we would be seeing a lot more comments here
if not.
Here's my thought on Palin;
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS.
Just relating tennis to this absurd ridiculous matter.
Thanks for your informative criticism of the candidate. I hate when
people just say nothing when trying to say something.
In terms of words and sentences spoken, more than two-third of Palin's
speech was spent glorifying McCain with platitudes. Most of the rest
was about presenting herself as a small-town hockey mom with a lot of
kids who loves straight-talking people. She didn't say much about her
executive experience except for very short one-line sentences one
after another, enumerating the key successes of her career that we
already know from Wikipedia.
Overall she sounded like a tag-along kinda candidate.- Hide quoted text -

Interesting. I clicked over to CNN and the pundits even there seemed
more impressed on average--a little pained looking, but impressed.
Maybe you were expecting other than a VP acceptance speech? Perhaps a
few hours should have been alloted for her.
Well, I expected a little more, to repeat a cliché, "gravitas". After
all, if elected, she is going to adorn the position of the 2nd most
powerful politician in the world. Politics is supposed to be a little
more serious than this. Many Americans will probably like her, though.
She will have plenty of opportunities to get serious. This was an
introduction. We'll see how she fares against hairplugs. He's
already lived up to my expectations of making an ass of himself in his
off-the-cuff remarks, so should be interesting.
The Biden-Palin debate will look so awkward. Especially when they will
start asking questions about foreign policies and stuff like that.
I don't think Biden or Palin will effect the outcome of the election
much. It's for Obama's to win or lose. If he can keep up his act, he
might just pull it off. McCain is a traditional GOP candidate. Obama
is something entirely new and interesting in the landscape of American
politics.
When I went to America, I expected to encounter very civilized,
thoughtful people with great intellectual capabilities, worthy of the
nation that leads the world. Now after a long time, I realize I was
actually looking for something that resembles more France than USA. :)- Hide quoted text -

Big country. You may not have been in the right crowd. But if you
think intellect alone is what made this country great, you may have
set yourself up for disappointment.
Big country but surprisingly homogeneous for its size. There are many
interesting subcultures, of course.
