My wife and I think Roger looks great in black.

So you're sitting back and enjoying the AO?

I always enjoy the AO. I just don't accord it much prestige. 8;)

BTW, what's with the styling of that "Melbourne" logo at the camera end of
each
court? It reminds me of the Sydney Opera House. Is there something actually
in
Melbourne that it is intended to be a reference toward?

No, that's just the chip on Melbourne's shoulder, and on the country's as well.
The organizers want you to know that the AO is in MELBOURNE, as though you
didn't know that already, because they are desperate for Melbourne to be
noticed. They are afraid that it will escape your attention that Melbourne is
hosting a big international event, so they stick the city's name in your face
right on the court. The same thing occurs for the Australian Grand Prix
("Melbourne" all over the place) and other events that are telecast overseas,
such as soccer matches ("Melbourne" right there on the pitch).

The organizers would probably argue that it's simply a case of promoting
Melbourne, but the fact that they actually changed the name of the tennis
centre's location from Flinders Park (named after explorer Matthew Flinders) to
Melbourne Park, simply because it contains "Melbourne", is an indication of the
depth of the inferiority complex (I continue to call it Flinders Park in
protest). Most of the blame can probably be laid at the feet of a certain
prominent and influential Melburnian, Ron Walker. For this Melburnian it's an
embarrassment.
