Oh brother. Here you once again show so little knowledge....

First, his footwork here is anything but sloppy, the fact of the matter is
that he was forced into a terrible stance by Rod***'s excellent forcing
play. He was under extreme pressure and it doesn't take an expert...or even
a person who's ever seen any tennis before to see that. Second, there is no
freaky wrist action here. This shot could be executed by anyone with good
hands and good instincts. What is shown here that is exceptional, is smart
improvisation. A clear lesson here is that you don't have to make a great
shot(ie. 100 mph or 1cm over the net) but with good placement and in this
case, not worrying about pace at all, Rod*** was neutralized. An
interesting sub-point often lost on most people is that sometimes a high
arcing shot can be to your benefit if the player must also stretch very wide
to reach it. It's easier to stretch wide and reach low that stretch wide and
reach very high.

This shot was actually similar to what sometimes was called a teaser lob in
the 70's. It was a lob hit with a very low trajectory but accordingly, a bit
more pace and horizontal pentration, which was JUST out of reach of the net
player.

On a final note, this is one of the tragedies of this era, with great
attacking players, Federer would be forced to use his great hands and
shotmaking much more, which could produce really spectacular battles when
both are playing well.

Thanks Dave! I'm not really very meticulous on matters like that, actually, I think I make those types of errors frequently, so it's good that you thought it unusual. These things happen when you write quickly and of course, especially when writing about actual TENNIS, I think it's pretty questionable if anyone is actually reading it. Glad to see you are at least! I also make a lot more typos when using my laptop keyboard.
