etc.) during the same period, and Hewitt's no volleyer, but a pure
baseliner. Which suggests Federer was not bothered by S/V in
particular, but that his overall game had not hit its peak yet. It was
more about Federer's lack of mental strength.
Doesn't suggest that at all. The fact Fed turned the tables on Hewitt,
which coincidentally is the same time Hewitt started losing to everyone
(duh), tells us nothing about how he'd go v great s/v'ers.....

maybe not, but the fact that fed did beat the 4-time defending champ,
future USO finalist and champ, greatest s/v'er ever, sampras, at wim
does tell us something about how he would've gone against the other s/
v'ers.



Does Sampras being pushed to 5 sets the rd before v Cowan give us a hint at Sampras' form at that time? Or is that preposterous?
