Marseille - Nadal - O. Rochus -- ought to be the most straightforward of the bunch.

Marseille - Henman - Sidorenko -- can't lose to little kids if you want to have even a half-decent season.

Buones Aires - Ferrero - del Potro -- losing to big kid will dent clay creds big time.

San Jose - Rod*** - Garcia-Lopez -- 2 time defending champion with some questions on physical and mental fitness had better step up to the plate.

San Jose - Murray - Fish -- something will smell mighty bad if the up-and-comer can't take care of a floundering Fish. <<sorry, got carried away a bit there :-( >>

What do you think? See any other must-win matches?

Agree with all of these. Fish beat Murray last year in the midst of
his injury problems and it really was a match that Murray should have
won. I'm sure he won't make the same mistake this time.

I was hoping that Murray would get off to a better start. Picking up 8 points in January when everything added to his tally was disappointing. The AO match against Chela was woeful.

Hope he plays more consistently in February.

Not really a fair assessment. Look at his results

Lost to Berdych is Adelaide in 3 sets- Not an unexpected loss given his rustiness and Berdych being on a high

Lost to Ancic in Auckland- Ancic a lot more experienced and considerably higher ranked

Lost to Chela at AO- Given Chela went on to take Hewitt out I don't consider this a particularly bad loss

Lost to Ljubicic in Zagreb- Ljubicic on a very fast indoor court was always going to be tough. I think he did well to come as close to winning it as he did. He was the only guy to actually break his serve in that tournament.
