Never understood how ...

.... Davenport manages to stay in the top ranks.

She is lazy like hell, never seems to chase a ball that is more than a few
feet from her, wears a sour painful expression most of the time (even when
she is winning), etc.

I stopped following women's tennis utterly after Navratilova and Sabatini
went out of the singles business, so maybe this is mostly the kind of
player that is churned out at the top these days. There just does not seem
to be any joy to their play or demeanour.
