At least, her return game is.
She can still "go away" on serve . . . .
But it's great to see her in the latter stages of majors again.
Yes, well, Los Angeles isn't exactly a major, but great to see her in
a final again.
Eurosport came to the match when Kim just had a breakpoint for 4-2,
which she took. But then Hantuchova played really well, she was
hitting winners from Kim's second serves all the time, and generally
looked very good. She could have won the first set. But then she sort
of quit when she didn't win it.
It was a match between my #1 and my #2 favourites, and I would have
been happy with #2 winning it. She doesn't have many titles, this
would have been great for her. Kim has more than enough titles, she
needs slams...
From what I understand, Shriver and Fernandez made reference to
Hantuchova making visits to a "psychiatrist," although that was possibly
a reference to Jim Loehr, the sports psychologist. She's also
apparently hired someone to improve her speed and footwork-- which means
that she's finally addressing the two biggest flaws in her game: mind
and movement.
Sampras musta had a great shrink...
