Re: bat warmers

Well from what I have read around the internet, bat warmers does not
give any significant performance boost if at all. The only meer
benefit this might have is if you play in an area that has softball
under 50 degree weather. This should help from keeping your bat from
shattering. But there is no scientific proof that the bat warmer will
do as such. So all in all, I wouldn't invest in such a product. I
hope this helps.

I talked with Dr. Lloyd Smith from the Univ of Washington in November
concerning this subject.

Heating a composite bat does indeed improve the performance of the bat.
The key is getting the bat to the plate.

If the bat comes directly from the bat warmer to the plate, the
performance will be increased. If there is any delay especially using
practice swings with the unwrapped bat will cool it down dramatically
and reduce the increased performance of the heated bat.
