Futbolmetrix:
Hm... I can live with it. And since it's in FS's very nature to change the
rules, I think I'll vote in favor.
But only if we go towards a better game! :) (my sparse thoughts so far
makes me think that MH's proposal doesn't make the game worse, and I
know that he is smart, so I can trust him if he says that it's an
improvement)
Anyway, it's true: FS' very nature is to change the rules [1]. But the
reforming system could seem to hinder reforms: one single vote
against, and a proposal is rejected! Now, this rule [2] has its roots
in the first version of the game, where there weren't different cycle,
so it could happen something like this: you play and get involved for
10 years, then someone proposes a rule that cancel all your picks and,
if you can't veto it, you have waster 10 years. But now things are
different: any reform is about the _next_ cycles, and the worst thing
that can happen if someone doesn't like a reform is that he won't play
in them (I mean, in the next cycles); but what he has done so far
hasn't been wasted!
Now, at least for the time being I'd leave the rule changing system as
it is. We aren't many, and the ones who bother discussing/voting about
new rules are just a subset, so maybe it isn't impossible to find an
agreement about a reform. Also, nobody is so dissatisfied with the
current rules that he isn't playing (or so I think?), and isn't it
better to have rules that are OK according to 26 players than to have
rules that are awesome for let's say 20 players?
Final thought: this could be a nice opportunity to hear the opinion of
the new scouts like Binder and Elko, that hadn't join the game when
the last flood of proposal stroke.
[1] As a matter of fact, the two-sentence abstract is "Fantasy Scout
is a simple free game where you win picking good football (soccer)
players before they become famous. Anybody can contribute to make the
game better proposing changes to the ruleset."
[2] Or "meta-rule" if you prefer, since it's the rule about changing
the rules.
