That's interesting. Could you provide a link ?
http://www.francefootball.fr/FF/breves2009/20091204_173448_-l-arbitrage-est-mort.html
quick translation:
"If Henry is a cheater, then all football players are cheaters including
myself. It's refereeing that isn't good anymore. For the last decade, I have
said that in its current form, refereeing was dead; TV has killed
refereeing. 20 years ago, only the keeper and Henry would have known about
that handball.
Thanks. Much appreciated, the link as well as the translation.
Is it true that he has said this *for the last decade* ? It's the
first time I hear about it, looks like he says it now because of the
Henry incident.
I don't see any other way to fix refereeing than introducing 2 additional
referees. Football must remain human.
Oh, that stupidity about football and humanity. Just when I thought
Platini was a bit better than Blatter after all. ;-)
If we use video for WC quals, what are
we going to do with 25 cameras (~200,000 euros) for a Faroe Island- Estonia
followed by 1000 folks?
Just use it for the KO rounds of the World Cup and UCL, for Christ's
sake. What's so difficult to comprehend ? Who cares about Faroe Island
- Estonia ? (No disrespect, but the main thing *is* to get it right in
the Italy - Germany semi.)
You can have additional refs for the other games, though so far it
looks like they're not much good, as I hear.
Then we'll get to see there was a foul before the
foul, itself preceeded by another foul. It'll be the end of football.
Well, it's not exceedingly simple, but not that difficult either to
make it right enough. It's not brain surgery, and even if it was.
For video in football, you have politicians and federations offcials. Against
video, you have Beckenbauer, Pele, Savicevic, Weah...
For video you also have SAF, Hiddink, Wenger, Eriksson, Graham Poll
and Markus Merck, plus possibly a few others I forgot. Why doesn't he
mention these too ?
