Man U werent the best team in England this year, let alone Europe.

Remember...

Your team didn't make it to the final or even beyond the 4th round of
the FA and Carling Cup. You lost this week in the Youth Cup and
finished second in the league, you won nothing!

Get used to it, it'll be the same next season!

Rough day at the office RD? Still opposed to the crazy idea of free
opinions?

Absoltely not, did I touch a nerve?

What's for dessert tonight? Humble pie topped with sour grapes?

Barcelona fully deserved the win, we were completely outplayed.
Congratulations to them. As far as sour grapes were you referring to
your statement that Manchester United weren't the best team in England
this year? I rather think you weren't were you?

Barcelona are the best team in Europe, they proved it the only way
they can tonight.

Manchester United are the best team in England, they proved it over a
full season of play, you should stop being so bitter!- Hide quoted text -

If you weren't suffering from Alzheimer's in your old age you would
remember that several times over the years I have ackowledged Man U's
dominance, quality of play, and overall superiority. The only one year
in the past 2 decades that I have genuinely felt that Liverpool were
the better team is this one, but your feeble and selective memory is
unable to process that as anything other than bitterness on my part.

Liverpool finished playing well so you retain this memory of them and
somehow translate their late form into season long form. The truth is
far from that however, their after Christmas form was dismal and it
lost them the league. United maintained their form throughout the
season, it's called consistancy and it's needed to win Championships.- Hide quoted text -

Ok, at least you're willing to have a reasonable disucssion about this
now.

I've always been willing to have reasonable discussion on anything
associated with football.

I am well aware that we finished the season with fewer points than Man
U. I never argued that we were the best team over the course of the
season or that we deserved the title more, but rather that we finished
the best team and remain the best team in England at this time.

And how do you measure this?

I agree that Liverpool finished the season in great form, better form
than United in fact, but the "best team in England" is the team that
finishes on top of the league, there is NO other measure. If your form
had been the best for the majority of the season you would have won
the league and could have laid claim to the title. As it was you had
too many poor spells and were not consistantly in 'great form'

the team finally gelled earlier this year we truly became a Tour de
Force, and it was represented not just by streaky good play, or last-
gasp winners which we heavily relied on last year, but was evident by
a team finally coming together to dominate their opposition by sheer
quality, confidence, and remarkable synergistic energy (much like you
lot have had in the past). At the same time this was happening, United
was a team losing some of its confidence and relying more on pulling
rabbits out of the hat to squeeze out victories. They surely werent
the United of last year. As the balance of things stand right now I
have no doubt Liverpool is the superior team. Next season will tell us
if my view is misguided or not.

No it won't because you'll again resort to excuses and somehow come up
with a formula that suggests that your team was the best, it's what
you do! While we'll wear the title Champions with the knowledge we ARE
the best team in England and we have proven it.
I don't see that changing based upon current squads, we'll wait
and see what the summer market brings.
