On the contrary; I can't remember a trophy campaign in my lifetime
that hasn't seen the media (written and broadcast) extolling the
virtues of the national side and how we've only got to turn up to win.
Haven't you ever listened to Des Lynam or Gary Lineker?
English arrogance is your problem, I'm afraid.
In a way, you're both right. Over hype soon leads to disappointment
and the crucifixion of the manager and team.
