It's generally assumed that when you knowingly post to a public forum of
some kind that you are making an implied licence to the operators of that
forum to take all actions consistent with using your post in the way you
intended when you made the post. (hence storing it for publication in the
news feeds, etc).

I think it could be argued, if you're not one of these people who
aren't hampered by the whole "for profit" argument (which is a stealth
angle for those uneasy with free-markets to begin with), that Google
perform a public service by conserving for us, the writers, our
thoughts on a given day.

It isn't a public service. It's a 'for profit' operation.
