Imagine if China, India and USA are playing in world cup finals. That
around 2.5 billion viewers right there! It would only make WC finals
more profitable.

The amount of money a country will pay for broadcast rights is not
based solely on population.

The US already pays more than any other country to broadcast the WC.
This is pretty amazing considering the low ratings that the games get.
In any case, ABC/ESPN paid $425 million for WC06 and WC10 plus the two
women's WCs in 08 and 12. They farmed off the US Spanish language
rights to Univision for $100 million.

If you compare this to what the NFL gets from all their TV deals,
which is about $3 billion a year, you can understand why FIFA wants
the game to become more successful in the US. The US already pays
more to FIFA than any other country, but it could be a lot more if the
sport takes off.
