Re: Rooney goes back to Germany

That was my wording (and perhaps not the best) based upon me reading
that England had their own medical staff plus an independent doctor
was present at the scan today.

Fair enough. I wasn't exactly 100% accurate, but it's bloody difficult
to get any reliable information from the press here.

From reading the documents that you
found (good job) I do agree that by rules and regulations the national
association can indeed have the player examined by a Doctor of their
choice.

But what doctor in his right mind would want to risk a huge
lawsuit from the club if he gave an opinion that wasn't a sound one
based only on the players true condition?

I think most doctors would be fairly independently minded. The best
SGE could hope for would be to find one who is known to have certain
kinds of opinion about certain injuries etc etc.

He would risk being struck
off and dragged through every court in the land, I'd say every doctor
is going to give the same medical opinion in cases of such high
profile. I think the media is trying to make this a United V England
controversy while I'm guessing it's nothing of the sort. I think if
the United medical staff had any problems with him going back to
Germany today they'd have at least protested and we would have solid
evidence of that protest.
I just read the Guardian spill on things and they have it that
United are upset and Ferguson fuming. They must have a reporter that's
following Ferguson around since the man is out of the country on
holiday right now..

Probably 99% bull***, but it sells papers so what do they care?

Not much. Wouldn't surprise me if there was another article saying the
opposite in the same paper. I still can't work out whether Rooney's
definitely been given the OK or not or what conditions would apply.

In one paper they were suggesting he wouldn't be allowed to play in
the group phase unless England desperately needed to win their last
game. Sounds a bit unlikely to me. Or perhaps not. Don't know.
