you get what you get and lets just say the learning curve has far surpassed my

just love to spend QT this AM with both but damb fellers it's raining like all
hell out there. My calander says January my window says April.

Very nice! I stop back in here every once in a while.
You weren't kidding about the poo 04 440 being a pinnacle of the prox. This thing flat out rocks. More power, better accelleration, better handling, and much better ergo's for agressive riding than the 2002. Plus it looks way cooler! When attempted it will stand itself on end. And when drag racing, lean over the hood and hit the gas and stay a sled ahead of the piped xc800 for nearly 70 yards.
Speaking of happenings, a buddy just bought a 2002 doo 440. We set him up with a #8 base gasket and are working on tuning the D*MN powerjet carbs. So far we plugged the powerjet hole with silicone, and put in some 340/330 jetting. Needle at #4 for the first run. MPG sucked ass (litterally 2x as much gas as my Px), and sled loaded up and ran sluggish on the bottom end. Any tips and hints to get this thing SAFELY snappy? The duder who bought it is not a tuner, so we need a 0-10F safe setup here. I am thinking even richer on the mains to try. He had 300/290 in it and it would not even run on top, it lean bogged at anything over 1/2 throttle unless you pumped the primer. Youch! He bought it with 230/220 main jets in it and the seller said "trail ready"! One piston squeak later we learn his "trail ready" setup and damn near go have a visit with him.
Anyway, we had a good shakedown/tuning run on Sunday, and here are some pics. No-one else likes to take pictures so only one pic of me and not an exceptional one at that. The road gapping was great fun. I was the first to clear it and did it over and over again. The 99 zr440 dude is not afraid and cleared it multiple times too. Everyone else in the group was a wuss and stood on the side and watched us.
And without further adieu:
