Thanks for the response, Jeff. I have spoken with the owner and the crank wasn't fixed. I 've also spoken with a former employee of the dealership that sold it and was told that both 600's and 700's had the problem, although so few 600's were sold, compared to 700's, that it was mostly 700's that got the fix. He also said that most exhibited the problem at around 1000 miles.
It's possible that you could run this thing without a problem for many years; it's also possible you could be cranking across a lake this coming February and suddenly be looking at major repair bills for an 8-year old sled. Just a guess, but I think there will be many more "buying opportunities" in the near future. In investment circles, the term "buying oportunity" is sometimes described as "catching a falling knife".
