Fitness, all bike trails and ovals. I average about 8-10 miles an hour,
distance, depending on obstructions and weather. Have been skating on the 100's

on rougher surfaces, but the K2 wheels are a tad on the low profile side for my
liking. I'm 200 pounds and I ran them down pretty fast.

You're right on the boot drawbacks, albeit that is a subjective situation. The
boot has a nice feel to it though and barring July and August, shouldn't prove
to be a big problem for me anyway. I remember skating in my 99 Freedom's and
feeling like my feet were on fire they'd get so hot! I used to kid my buddy that
it was like skating with insulated pizza bags on my feet :)

I'm about ready to experiment a tad and throw my Verducci 5 wheel frames on the
Radical boot to see if I feel like I'm working less during acceleration. It
ought to be somewhat of a fair comparison as the frame lengths are similar, with
stability not an issue either way.

Aloha Spicoli...

Before you do that, you might want to try a set of Hyper IIs 84a's. The K2 wheels are rebranded Star Grips which are great wheels but seem to wear a bit premature.

I've been skating on the Hyper IIs and the Hyper Stripes for a while and really like them for a 100mm wheel. The SuperSonics are also another good choice but they're a tad more expensive.

Check out www.gatorbackskate.com for good deals on wheels. The socks they sell are also great for skating.. I know the owner, Mark Farnsworth, and he is a great guy, dedicated to his customers and the sport of inline skating.

Good luck!
