Thanks! (was Re: Flying camel tips?)

Today I managed to squeeze in a quick lesson on the flying camel, so I had
the chance to try some of the advice under an expert eye's guidance.

Anyhow, the flying part only has to be about half a turn - it looks like
the first half of the rotation happens when rocking onto the toepick on
the take-off. By and large this part works OK (although now and then I
worry so much about jumping too early that I end up jumping too late :-P )

Kay's advice to jump with the free leg at hip height is sound - although
the instructor said it is OK to just step over for now and then start
working on the "flying" part once I am more consistent (after I had two
noisy splats trying to put some more flair into it). Ditto for the low
free leg on the landing.

Something that seemed to help me jump in the right direction is drawing
the jump on the ice with a big X marking when I was supposed to land
(the instructor asked me where I though I was meant to land and I got it
right thanks to George :-) - Although I also was a little confused about
the 12 and 2 o'clock relationship mentioned by Jeanne. Did the tape refer
to a CW jump?
Tring to step towards the X suggested that I need to let the free leg come
further around - I have been holding it back a bit too long and ending up
stepping sidewards towards my right rather that in front of me.

Thanks very much for all the help!
