Wouldn't that be Skatefans? Any Yahoo group has an owner who can
admit/ban/or whatever to any member. Bah.
The skatefans list isn't moderated. If the owner were interested in
banning people, I'm sure I'd be on the banned list myself by this
time! :-P
My understanding is that the list is set up to require posts from new
members to be approved by the list elves as an anti-spam measure, but
as soon as you post something skating-related that demonstrates you're
not a spambot, the list elves take you off moderated status. They don't
play traffic cop on the list otherwise.

As long as there's an "owner" that can kick you off, I'll stay away. I
don't
believe in that kind of ***. I hate Yahell for groups. Any groups.
As a matter of fact, since you're a computer person... I have recently
joined (and don't laugh) a craft group data base thing which is in
beta testing, and it's also got a gazillion groups on it as well.
The discussions range from the sublime to the ridiculous. The thing
that's so great about it, it started out being built by a programmer
geek for his knitting wife and her friends. It has grown by leaps and
bounds all over the world with people clamouring to get in. The only
reason they have to register is because the owners don't want to crash
their servers - they're having people access the site in an orderly
manner. Once it's out of testing it will be free (it already is) and open
to the public.
The point of my blathering is this site has the absolute best way
of having group interaction that I've EVER seen - bar none. Posts
and threads are super easy to make and READ complete with the
ability to post photos. I'm even a moderator on one group
(yeah go ahead - laugh). This guy is a genius. Once they got it
going, they both eventually quit their day jobs, and this month
have even hired their first employee. I think it's just great.
I wish more social networking was built on their model.
Facebook sucks big time in comparison.
