article - Kevin Reynolds left wondering 'what if?'

You couldn't blame Kevin Reynolds for wondering 'what
if?'

"I'm so proud of Kevin," Reynolds' coach Joanne McLeod
said from Sofia. "He was able to put his short program
behind him. He had a fantastic practice this morning and
he was very determined."

Only the second skater in the world to be credited with a
successful quad-triple-triple jump combination, Reynolds
scored heavily Thursday with a well-executed quad
Salchow, a triple Axel and two triple-triple
combinations. He fell on a second quad attempt, a toe
loop. It's the first time Reynolds has landed the triple
Axel in competition.

"I was confident I had a chance to land it," he said.
"The short program was disappointing because it's been
solid for me this season."

However, Reynolds' program components score -- which has
traditionally been his weakness --was only the 11th best
in the free skate.

"Kevin continues to improve in the artistic part of his
skating, but it isn't yet reflected in his scores," added
McLeod.
