"It was not a fun dance for us so we chose something to
make it easier for us to dance," Schoenfelder said. "She
is the bar girl and I am the sheriff. I wanted to have a
gun but I didn't want to take the risk. It might be too
much."
"It's a very funny, happy dance," Shabalin said. "But
it's strange for an almost 30-year-old man to be dancing
with a girl in ponytails."
Domnina and Shabalin won the Grand Prix final in Turin,
Italy, on Dec. 15. Then he had an operation on the
meniscus of his left knee on Dec. 24, but returned to the
ice on Jan. 4.
"It didn't hurt, it doesn't hurt and it won't hurt,"
Shabalin said after his routine.
However, he was noticeably limping as he came off the ice
and gingerly walked down the stairs, carefully holding
the railing.
The ice dance continues with the original dance Thursday
with the free dance on Friday
