For some reason, every time I access one of the "youtube" sites, the
program starts and stops every few seconds (both with the Miki Ando
aboutTonya Harding videos). It is impossible to watch, though I really
wanted to see each one. It plays for about 10 seconds, stops for
wrong?20 seconds then plays for 10 seconds again. Anyone know what's
broadband
What type of connection are you using? YouTube really requires
fileto
work properly. If you are on a dial-up, your best bet is to save the
below:to
your hard disk and watch them off-line using the method described
livedBelieve it or not, broadband still isn't available everywhere. When I
She should dump her dial-up and get broadband.
Dial-up is in its death throes now. Some computers
dont even COME with modems. As I have upgraded
the computers on my network to be able to run
Vista when it comes out, I find that last couple of
computers I have bought dont even HAVE modems
in them.
Dial-up is dead. Barbara, you need to get with
the times and get a broadband connection. Besides,
the next computer you buy may not even HAVE a
modem in it.
in another town for my first year of grad school, no broadband service
was
available for my home. The school had a T1 connection or something, but
I
couldn't get broadband at the house.
You should have at least been able to get iDSL.
Although it is expensive, at about $100 per month,
it is still quite a bit faster than any dialup service.
iDSL does 144 kilobits, both up and down,
almost 3 times the speed of a dialup connection
(so-called 56K dialups really only run at about
50k).
And as I have said already, some computers do
not even HAVE modems installed now. A lot of
the new computers come with no modem, so
the next time you buy a computer, you will have
to get a broadband connection, even if it costs
$100 per month for an iDSL connection. iDSL
is a slower version of DSL for areas that cannot
get normal DSL service, and is usually available
up to 9 miles away from the CO, compared to
12,000 to 18,000 feet for normal ADSL.
If Barbara cannot get cable or ADSL., and cannot
put up a satellite dish, then she should look into the
$100 per month iDSL service, being that it is about
3 times faster than a normal dialup connection. As
long as she is within about 9 miles loop distance
of the CO, she can get iDSL, if she cannot get cable,
satellite, or normal ASDL service.
If you ever have to move back to whatever town
where you could not get normal broadband, you
may want to look into getting the $100 per month
iDSL service.
Nope, I don't need speeds that fast to do what I do on the internet. I have
broadband now because I'm back in civilization where it's reasonably priced,
but it's definitely not worth 100 bucks a month to me.
Others, who do large downloads or play games online, might feel differently.
