Hey, Thomas! Welcome to the group.
I didn't get a chance to get on the computer until today, but I watched
the pairs short here in the US.
Unfortunately, they did not show us any Canadians. Too bad, as I enjoy
Marcoux and Buntin.
I thought I&B's throw triple axel was better here than it was at US
Nats.
I've always liked T&M. In fact, I'm a little biased as I've been
coached by both of them as well as Oleg Vassiliev. They are nice
people and I hope for them to win! I have such an appreciation for
what they do, and I've never thought that they were boring. I liked
their costumes. The color looked especially good on Tatiana. I
thought she kind of looked like a mermaid! :-)
That being said, I'm also a huge Shen & Zhao fan. I'm sorry that it
won't be more of a contest between the two pairs. However, I thought
S&Z's short program was very nice if you could over-look the mistakes.
Their presentation has come so far since they first came on the scene.
It's better than the other Chinese pairs, that's for certain.
P&T had a good program. I would love to see them medal here. Sandra
Bezic said that P&T have arguably the bests lifts in the competition.
I have to argue. I think that award goes to Zagorska and Siudek.
Their lifts are effortless and always impressive. I'm sorry that they
aren't higher in the placements. I hope that NBC doesn't chack them in
the long, as this may be one of our last chances to see them skate.
I was shocked that the Germans didn't do better. They've had such a
great season. They must be disappointed to be in 7th after the short
program.
