Mate you need to take off the Welsh tinted glasses. Part of a wingers
job is to get into positions to score - at least Monye has done that
which is more than can be said for Williams.
Any particular place? Behind inside centre perhaps?
I wonder how often Douggie was dropped by the All Blacks because he
didn't score for 2 games?
I thought Geech said we weren't going to play players out of
position?
Geech also said he picks on form not reputation. Williams is lucky to
be on the bench.
Form is more than yesterdays page 3. And form includes ability.
The bit I remember about his defence was right at the beginning when
he was
going to pick up the kicked ball in the corner with a Bok thundering
down on
him. He was playing as if he had all the time in the world, Byrne to
to race
over and bundle it in to touch. Their was try was shortly after that
lineout.
Bowe did pretty much the same. I don't know how you can talk about
defence without mentioning Williams gifting the Royals an
interception. Habana must be salivating at the prospect. The last
time
Williams featured in a Lions Test he was blasted off the pitch by
aggressive defending.
True, yet other times he got through.
I dont think hes the best. I think hes better than the others bar Bowe
perhaps. I think he deserves a shot.
If you are talking about what people deserve - Williams should not
even have made the tour.
Since he did make it, he's done nothing.
He cant do worse than Monye.
That would be based on a total of zero tries and 1 interception vs
Shit happens.
Monye's 4 tries.
Which were all scored in different scenarios. Monye flunked two in the
test. He didn't run well and seemed too keen to kick IMO.
Shane can do no worse. But I suspect, if he gets a chance, much better.
I think he deserves a chance.

Why ? Because he was player of the year last year ?

Doesn't deserve a chance. But considering how he terrorised the Boks in
their own backyard last year Geech is taking a gamble. He'll only come on if
someone gets injured or we're behind in the last quarter
He wouldn't even have made the bench if Byrne wasn't injured or any of the
other wingers played well.
